Role Overview
This position involves teaching and advancing the field of pharmacology within a higher education setting. You will be responsible for delivering assigned units, developing curricula, and conducting research that contributes to the institution's academic reputation. Your efforts will directly shape the next generation of pharmacy professionals and support community health through education and scholarly activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach allocated pharmacology units through a mix of lectures, tutorials, and laboratory practicals, ensuring students grasp both theoretical concepts and applied skills.
- Design, develop, and plan courses at various levels, including creating new programmes, syllabi, lesson plans, and assessment tools.
- Regularly review and refresh pharmacology course content and materials to keep pace with advances in the field.
- Collaborate with academic colleagues on curriculum design, programme revisions, and the development of joint research projects.
- Conduct original research, prepare grant proposals, and pursue funding opportunities to support scholarly work.
- Seek and participate in consultancies that apply pharmacological expertise to real-world challenges.
- Present research findings at national and international conferences, scientific symposia, and webinars.
- Offer mentorship and career advice to students and colleagues, helping them navigate academic and professional pathways.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Candidates must hold a Master's degree in one of the following disciplines: Pharmacology, Pharmaceutics, Industrial Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Analysis, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, or Clinical Pharmacy, from an accredited university.
- A Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited university is required.
- At least three years of post-qualification work experience.
- Demonstrated potential for university teaching, research, and community extension.
- A strong commitment to high-quality teaching and creating a positive learning environment for students.
- Must possess a valid Pharmacy and Poisons Board Practice License.
