Role Overview
This position sits at the centre of our technical training delivery, turning curriculum frameworks into practical, hands-on learning that prepares students for real work in their trade or technical field. The person in this role spends their week planning and facilitating sessions, guiding learners through competency-based assessments, and making sure workshop and classroom practice keeps pace with current industry standards. Success here directly shapes graduate readiness, so the role carries real weight in how our programmes are experienced and how they are regarded by employers and accrediting bodies.

- Prepare and update learning materials such as session plans, learner workbooks, practical exercises and assessment instruments, ensuring they remain aligned with the approved syllabus and qualification requirements.
- Assess learner competence through formative and summative methods, provide constructive written and verbal feedback, and maintain accurate, audit-ready assessment records.
- Maintain training facilities and equipment, including tools, machinery, consumables and safety controls, reporting faults and arranging servicing so practical sessions can run without disruption.
- Embed health, safety and welfare practices into every session, inducting learners into safe working procedures and modelling correct use of personal protective equipment.
- Support learner progress and retention by tracking attendance and achievement, identifying learners who need additional help, and referring them to academic or pastoral support where appropriate.
- Keep technical and industry knowledge current through ongoing professional development, and bring emerging practices and technologies back into the teaching programme.
- Contribute to programme review and moderation, working with colleagues, industry advisers and quality teams to validate assessments, resolve learner appeals and improve course delivery.
