Aquatics Manager
Serves as the aquatics manager responsible for managing and supervising aquatic programs for an FMWR activity. In this role, you will assist the program manager with a wide variety of management and administrative tasks to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants.
Responsibilities
- Participate in or lead the planning process to provide a range of typical, conventional, and well-established basic aquatic activities.
- Coordinate details for recurring and non-recurring aquatic, fitness, instructional, and joint community programs.
- Interview and select staff; provide orientation, training, and supervision.
- Provide leadership, direction, management, and analysis of all aspects of the program as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Undergraduate or graduate education with a major in General Recreation or a related field, OR at least one year of specialized experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in a leadership role.
- Current Red Cross CPR Certification.
- Valid passport with at least one year of validity remaining at time of hire, and ability to travel internationally.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain them for the duration of deployment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Valid country driver's license and passport.
- Country visa as required per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor certifications preferred.
- Instructor certification as a lifeguard or water safety instructor in accordance with MWR Policy.
- Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of and ability to conduct pool chemical testing, adjust chemical imbalances, and document results.
- Skill in planning and executing a comprehensive aquatics program that meets the needs of the installation.
- Ability to analyze and prepare clear, concise, and technically sound reports related to work within the branch.
- Ability to manage the use and maintenance of emergency equipment related to the aquatics program.
- Capability to develop and oversee emergency medical and rescue training, public education, and other related duties.
- Ensures maintenance work, water chemical testing, pool vacuuming, filtration, and equipment meet preventive medicine standards.
- Serves as the Subject Matter Expert on aquatics for the installation.
