Role Overview
The Client Operations Manager owns the site-facing cargo receipt process, from checking that inbound trucks and loads meet access and safety rules through inspecting, documenting, and moving received goods into their next storage or operational location. This role keeps the client, warehouse, control tower, and QHSE teams aligned so offloading is safe, accurate, and fast. It also provides the daily records and performance visibility that support reliable project logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile transport paperwork with the actual shipment at arrival, confirming that counts, descriptions, and delivery details match before cargo is accepted.
- Check goods for visible damage, packaging soundness, label accuracy, and correct quantity; flag shortages, harm, wrong deliveries, and other mismatches to the Site Operations Supervisor and client representatives.
- Log, tag, and move accepted items to the correct storage or work area, keeping physical cargo and system records aligned.
- Vet every truck at the gate against site entry and operating rules, including vehicle condition, load restraint, lashing quality, and cargo stability before unloading begins.
- Make sure drivers and transport crews follow required PPE and site safety procedures, and promptly raise hazards, nonconformities, near misses, and incidents to the supervisor and QHSE team.
- Sequence inbound truck slots and unloading work with clients, warehouse personnel, operations teams, the Control Tower, and Track & Trace colleagues so arrivals match site readiness and turnaround time improves.
- Oversee unloading activity, escalate holdups, yard congestion, and bottlenecks that threaten service, and keep daily records of truck movements, goods received, and site activity.
- Produce daily, weekly, and monthly receiving reports on schedule, file delivery notes, inspection sheets, discrepancy reports, and receiving paperwork in an audit-ready state, and enter receiving data accurately into company systems.
- Track receiving performance, recommend process changes that improve speed and cargo accuracy, support continuous improvement in receiving, cargo handling, and reporting, and present receiving statistics in operational review meetings.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, transport management, warehousing, or a comparable discipline.
- At least two to three years of experience in cargo receiving, warehousing, logistics, or transport operations.
- A logistics or supply chain management certificate is beneficial.
- Exposure to oil and gas, industrial logistics, or project cargo operations is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail for inspecting loads, verifying documentation, and reporting discrepancies.
- Ability to coordinate across client representatives, warehouse staff, operations teams, and HSE colleagues in a site environment.
