To support their expanding operations, they are looking for a meticulous Accounts Assistant to handle a dual role involving core accounting and administrative financial support. This position is vital for maintaining fiscal discipline, ensuring robust corporate governance, and keeping the company in good standing with regulatory bodies like the KRA. The ideal candidate will be a QuickBooks power-user with a sharp eye for detail and the ability to navigate the fast-paced environment of the tech and telco sector.
Functional Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Bookkeeping

Manage daily accounting tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the posting of accurate journal entries.

Maintain the QuickBooks system, ensuring all records are complete, up-to-date, and reflective of the company’s current financial position.

Perform comprehensive bank reconciliations to ensure internal records align with external statements.

Support the end-of-period closing processes on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Reporting & Budgetary Support

Assist in the compilation of data for timely financial reports and management accounts.

Support the finance team in monitoring cash flow and developing basic forecasting schedules to guide spending.

Contribute to the annual budget preparation process by providing historical data and financial projections.

Help improve internal documentation processes to enhance the integrity of the firm's financial data.
Compliance & Audit Readiness

Ensure all accounting activities comply with IFRS, local regulations, and internal company policies.

Manage KRA system filings and ensure the company remains tax-compliant across all tax heads.

Prepare required documentation and schedules to facilitate smooth internal and external audits.

Maintain a rigorous filing system for all financial and administrative documents for easy retrieval and compliance checks.
Requirements & Competencies
Professional Background

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Certification: Professional accounting certification (CPA or ACCA) is highly preferred.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience.

Sector Expertise: At least 1 year of experience within an ISP or Telecommunications company is a significant added advantage.
Technical & Soft Skills

Software: Proven proficiency in QuickBooks is essential.

Taxation: Solid working knowledge of the KRA iTax system.

Analytical Ability: Strong skills in data interpretation and financial organization.
