News Editor (Entry Level)
We are seeking a diligent and skilled News Editor to join our editorial team. The role involves gathering, verifying, and editing news content from multiple sources, ensuring alignment with editorial standards and government policy. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of a senior officer to monitor and assess media output.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Gathering, receiving, verifying, translating, and editing news and features from various sources.
- Determining the quality of news in relation to original stories filed or received.
- Reviewing news from News Agencies and relating their relevance to Government policy.
- Monitoring other media under the guidance of a more senior officer.
Requirements for Appointment
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Journalism, International Relations, Social Sciences, or any other approved equivalent qualification from a recognized university or institution.
Skills and Competencies
- Good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
