Job Description

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform diagnostic laboratory procedures, ensure quality control, and contribute to patient care in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on patient samples (blood, urine, tissues, etc.) to aid in diagnosis and treatment.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures, infection control protocols, and laboratory safety guidelines.
  • Document and report test results promptly, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities, including troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to interpret results and provide technical guidance.
  • Manage inventory of reagents and supplies, and assist in ordering and stock control.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution.
  • Registration and a valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
  • At least 2–3 years of relevant work experience will be an added advantage.
  • Good analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and laboratory information systems is an added advantage.
