Role Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical, technically astute Technical Sales Engineer to drive commercial acquisition across our specialized electrical engineering and industrial distribution portfolios. Your primary objective is to engage enterprise accounts, evaluate intricate power or instrumentation layouts, and structure specialized equipment packages that address precise operational challenges. This position bridges rigorous design consultations with aggressive B2B business development; you will steer engineering clients from technical site surveys and complex tender responses through to final project installation and commissioning support. The role calls for a target-driven engineer who can comfortably translate technical electrical schematics into direct commercial advantages for our B2B customers.

Areas of Accountability

Commercial Expansion & Tender Execution

  • Map, track, and convert fresh commercial opportunities within specialized industrial facilities, laboratories, and infrastructure networks.
  • Formulate and deliver comprehensive product demonstrations, design blueprints, and high-level engineering presentations to technical procurement directors.
  • Compile, review, and submit detailed engineering proposals, custom price quotations, and formal public/private tender documentation.
  • Structure and finalize commercial contracts, distribution agreements, and project payment terms within established profitability margins.

Solution Consultation & Technical Alignment

  • Audit customer infrastructure requirements to source and recommend optimal power systems, industrial instrumentation, and distribution hardware.
  • Deliver accurate engineering support regarding load balances, equipment tolerances, and safety protocols across specialized power loops.
  • Support client engineering teams directly during layout design, system mounting, equipment configuration, and on-site fault resolution.
  • Guarantee that all recommended hardware assets align with international and local electrical safety guidelines and energy sector rules.

Institutional Account Care & Retention

  • Cultivate and insulate long-term commercial relationships with active project contractors, plant engineers, and institutional buyers.
  • Coordinate routine client reviews and operational health checks to discover avenues for upselling auxiliary components or cross-selling new instrumentation lines.
  • Manage customer feedback loops diligently, tracking product issues and organizing swift technical remediations to protect brand loyalty.

Market Intelligence & Administrative Compliance

  • Monitor evolving power industry technologies, competing distributor pricing metrics, and expanding laboratory infrastructure standards.
  • Input accurate customer profile entries, transaction stages, and touchpoint data files consistently within the primary CRM framework.
  • Coordinate project progress workflows closely with logistics personnel to ensure punctual hardware deliveries, billing validation, and immediate payment collection.

Skills & Experience Required

Minimum Entry Criteria

  • Academic Foundation: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a matching engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Commercial Track Record: Minimum of 2 years of progressive success specializing in technical B2B sales, industrial equipment distribution, or industrial business development.
  • Technical Domain Acuity: Strong operational understanding of electrical distribution networks, power grids, advanced instrumentation, and national safety standards.
  • Digital Toolkit: Competence working with modern CRM applications alongside standard business software applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Performance Competencies

  • Consultative Articulation: Advanced negotiation capabilities with the power to explain technical engineering parameters to non-technical financial stakeholders.
  • Analytical Resolution: Keen diagnostic mind focused on identifying process inefficiencies and aligning them with structured hardware solutions.
  • Mobility Asset: Possession of a valid, clean Kenyan driving license is a distinct advantage for executing regional field consults.
