Job Description

Job Title: Head of Student Administration and Industrial Training

Job Overview

This is a senior management role responsible for overseeing student administration, industrial training, alumni relations, and industry collaborations at Kenya Utalii College. The position ensures that students receive professional exposure, mentorship, and job placement support while fostering strong ties with alumni and the tourism industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the coordination of Kenya Utalii College alumni activities to promote loyalty, fraternity, and long-term relationships between alumni and the institution.
  • Oversee the coordination of National Tourism Competitions for industry personnel to enhance professionalism in the hospitality and tourism industry.
  • Oversee the coordination of industrial attachments for KUC full-time students to provide professional exposure.
  • Liaise with the tourism industry on job placement for KUC graduates to facilitate their employment.
  • Oversee the coordination of mentorship programs for KUC students in preparation for their industrial attachment.
  • Undertake teaching responsibilities in areas of specialization to prepare students for the tourism industry.
  • Coordinate capacity-building programs for the tourism and hospitality industry.
  • Ensure proper administration of student accommodation and welfare through the office of the Dean of Students.
  • Oversee the coordination of collaborations and linkages.
  • Coordinate Kenya Utalii College alumni activities to promote close relationships between alumni and the institution.
  • Oversee the implementation of performance contract targets in the Students’ Administration and Industrial Training Division for compliance.
  • Organize industrial attachments for KUC full-time students to provide professional exposure.
  • Liaise with the tourism industry on job placement for KUC graduates.
  • Coordinate mentorship programs for KUC students in preparation for their industrial attachment.
  • Coordinate the activities of the KUC/Tourism Liaison and the Secretariat.
  • Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the level of responsibility of this grade.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this position, a candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Masters degree in a relevant field with seven (7) years of relevant working experience in a comparable position at a reputable organization, three (3) of which must be in senior management; OR
  • Must have served as Senior Principal Officer for a period not less than three (3) years.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Tourism, Social Sciences, or Humanities from a recognized institution.
  • A member of a professional body where applicable.
  • A leadership course lasting not less than 4 weeks.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated results in work performance.
  • Meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution.
