Duties and Responsibilities of an Accountant
* Maintain Financial Records
Record daily financial transactions accurately.
Update and maintain accounting books and ledgers.
* Prepare Financial Statements
Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Ensure financial reports are accurate and timely.
* Manage Accounts Payable and Receivable
Process supplier invoices and payments.
Monitor customer payments and follow up on outstanding accounts.
* Budgeting and Financial Planning
Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
Monitor actual performance against budget.
* Tax Compliance
Calculate and prepare tax returns.
Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
* Bank Reconciliation
Reconcile bank statements with company records.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
* Payroll Processing
Calculate employee salaries, deductions, and benefits.
Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time.
* Financial Analysis
Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances.
Provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
* Internal Controls and Auditing
Maintain effective internal control procedures.
Assist with internal and external audits.
* Compliance and Record Keeping
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Maintain organized financial records for future reference.
* Cash Flow Management
Monitor cash inflows and outflows.
Help maintain adequate cash reserves for business operations.
* Support Management Decision-Making
Provide financial information and reports to management.
Assist in strategic planning and business decisions.
