Strategic Objective
We are seeking a highly analytical, cost-focused Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial administration and fiscal control of our active construction projects. Your primary mandate is to safeguard project profit margins by delivering pinpoint financial estimations, tracking site expenditures, and administering vendor contracts with absolute transparency. This position bridges meticulous backend data analysis with active on-site engineering collaboration; you will guide project funds from initial budget blueprinting and take-off take-offs through to interim valuations and final account settlements. The role demands an independent, ethical specialist who thrives within demanding site conditions and can seamlessly mitigate financial risks across large-scale builds.
Scope of Responsibilities
Budget Engineering & Cost Estimation

Draft highly detailed cost estimates, comprehensive Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and comprehensive master project budgets for ongoing infrastructural deployments.

Monitor operational project costs progressively to detect budget overruns and enforce strict financial efficiency across all structural phases.

Conduct precise on-site measurement take-offs and structural valuations to match material consumption with financial allocations.
Contract Administration & Subcontractor Oversight

Vet, evaluate, and negotiate incoming subcontractor quotations, analyzing their financial viability against engineering specifications.

Measure and process regular interim payment applications, verifying completed tasks before authorizing milestone disbursements.

Supervise, document, and price engineering variations, contractual adjustments, and delay claims to preserve project ledger integrity.
Compliance Management & Collaborative Reporting

Guarantee unyielding adherence to formal construction contract agreements, corporate financial procedures, and local building regulations.

Partner closely with structural engineers, architectural consultants, and core project management teams to keep field operations aligned with monetary constraints.

Compile and present detailed cost status logs, cashflow forecasts, and structural financial updates for leadership review.
Qualifications & Prerequisites
Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Building Economics, or a matching construction engineering discipline.

Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive, hands-on experience managing commercial cost frameworks for medium-to-large-scale construction or infrastructure setups.

Technical Toolkit: Advanced proficiency utilizing Microsoft Excel alongside specialized quantity surveying valuation and estimation software.

Project Footprint: Proven experience navigating the commercial dynamics of residential, commercial, mixed-use, or large-scale real estate developments.

Locational Advantage: Candidates currently based in Mombasa or ready to operate out of the coastal region immediately are highly preferred.
