Job Description
- With support from local risk functions, establish necessary financial and non-financial risk processes across the region, in line with the
- Group Risk Framework and associated policies and standards, for risk identification (bottom-up and top-down), risk assessment (risk quantification, stress and scenario testing etc.), risk management (development of risk mitigating strategies and controls, risk appetite and limits etc.) and risk oversight (ongoing monitoring, risk reporting, risk governance mechanisms etc.).
- Actively engage with local risk functions to support in risk identification, management of ongoing risk issues or incidents, and establishment of local processes to enable effective risk management.
- Play an active role in the development of a risk coordinator / risk champion framework across the region.
- Define, lead and participate in risk deep dives across the region, which have been informed by detailed risk identification and quantification processes.
- Develop an annual forward-looking risk plan to support the ongoing development and maturity of local risk functions, and to enhance risk processes on a prioritised basis. Regularly assess the maturity and effectiveness of local risk functions and develop recommendations
- to strengthen local teams.
- Provide advice to the Prudential Africa CRCO on the strategic direction of the risk function, including input on the adequacy and effectiveness
- of local resources and risk plans / initiatives.
- Perform periodic assurance reviews of the implementation of local risk programmes with the aim to identify and remediate any process or control weaknesses / failures. Work with local businesses to implement any control enhancements identified during reviews.
- Review the annual risk assessments and quarterly reports submitted by local risk functions and support in the further enhancement of these processes.
- As necessary, provide risk training to local risk teams and first-line management to strengthen and improve risk awareness, knowledge and capabilities.
- Act as primary point of contact for Prudential Africa RCS in its engagement with Group RCS (functional risk leads).
- Provide oversight over technology risk and support in the embedding of an appropriate technology risk framework.
- Engage in all other risk initiatives as may be required from time to time.
- Support the Prudential Africa CRCO in assessing and enhancing risk culture and awareness across the region.
- Maintain an up-to-date view of the risk landscape across the region to support the Prudential Africa CRCO in reporting to the Prudential Africa EXCO, the Prudential Africa Risk & Compliance Committee (PARCC) and Group RCS.
- Support the Prudential Africa CRCO in the running of the PARCC, including development of committee materials and risk papers, communication with committee members and general management of the committee.
