Google Translate is getting a big upgrade that could make it the killer smart glasses app, bringing real-time translations directly to your ears. Early code hints suggest support for XR glasses, letting users stream spoken translations without touching a phone. For travelers, business meetings, or language learners, this could transform how we interact in multilingual environments.
The new feature appears tied to Google Translate’s Live Translation, which already supports instant voice translations. On XR glasses, translations could be piped straight into your ears, making communication seamless. You won’t need headphones or speakers—your smart glasses could handle everything, creating a hands-free, immersive experience.
While the “Glasses” option is present in the latest Android app code, it’s not yet live. With Samsung and Google pushing new XR hardware, it’s likely the feature will launch alongside or shortly after these devices. Keep an eye on Google Translate updates this year for the official rollout.
