Role Overview
This position centres on keeping our office environment clean, safe, and presentable for both staff and visitors. On a typical day, you'll move through a structured schedule of zones — from desks and meeting spaces to restrooms and the welcome area — ensuring every surface is cared for and every bin is emptied before the next shift begins. The state of the premises reflects directly on the business, so your consistency and attention to detail help create a professional impression that everyone notices.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete scheduled cleaning rounds across open-plan work areas, private offices, the reception desk, and the customer waiting space — including vacuuming, mopping hard floors, and wiping down visible surfaces.
- Sanitise restrooms on a regular cadence, covering toilets, urinals, sinks, counters, mirrors, and door handles, while replenishing soap, towels, and toilet paper so supplies never run out.
- Maintain the pantry and break area by clearing clutter from countertops, wiping down microwaves and fridge exteriors, and emptying bins that fill up quickly during peak break times.
- Dispose of waste properly by removing bin liners from all office zones, tying off full bags, and transporting rubbish to the designated collection point without leaving trails or spills.
- Dust and polish desks, ledges, shelving, and shared equipment, with extra attention to frequently touched spots like light switches, printer buttons, and door plates.
- Keep front-desk and filing areas orderly by straightening loose documents, clearing counter clutter, and visually confirming that printed materials are tidy enough for a client to encounter at a moment's notice.
- Track cleaning consumables such as paper products, bin liners, and chemical refills, flagging shortages to the office manager before they become a problem.
- Follow hygiene and safety protocols whenever you handle cleaning agents, put up wet-floor signage, or move equipment, ensuring the workspace stays safe for everyone else throughout the day.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least 2 years of office or commercial cleaning experience is preferred, although we genuinely welcome applicants with less formal experience who demonstrate strong reliability and a quick ability to learn.
- Hands-on familiarity with standard cleaning tools — mops, vacuums, dusters, and spray equipment — plus the correct, safe use of chemical products.
- Physical capacity for a role that involves standing, bending, stretching, and occasional lifting of full waste bags or supply cartons throughout the shift.
- Sharp attention to detail; you routinely notice smudged glass, scattered paperwork, or an overflowing bin that others might walk past.
- Dependability and punctuality, with the ability to follow a defined routine and complete tasks without needing constant supervision.
- Clear, basic communication to report maintenance issues, supply requests, or safety concerns in a simple and understandable way.
- No formal education requirement; relevant janitorial or commercial-cleaning certifications are a plus but far from essential to be successful here.
