Role Overview
This position keeps metal structures, components, and facility equipment in dependable working order by joining, fabricating, and repairing parts with MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes. Working from drawings and specifications, the welder turns raw metal into functional assemblies and responds to breakdowns that would otherwise interrupt operations. Because the work directly supports structural integrity and production uptime, precision, safety, and consistency are central to every task.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding to assemble new metal structures and repair existing components across the facility.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings to plan cuts, joints, and welding sequences.
- Fabricate metal parts and assemblies to specified dimensions, tolerances, and finish requirements.
- Inspect welds for strength, penetration, and appearance, reworking defects to meet quality standards.
- Assist with maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment when welding or metal fabrication is needed.
- Set up, adjust, and maintain welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.
- Use protective gear and follow all safety protocols, maintaining a clean and hazard-free work area.
- Report safety hazards, incidents, and equipment issues to the supervisor immediately.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or equivalent; a technical certificate or diploma in welding is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience as a welder with hands-on proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Strong working knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precise, controlled work.
- Keen attention to detail and solid problem-solving skills, especially when diagnosing weld defects or fit-up issues.
- Capability to work independently on assigned jobs and contribute effectively within a team.
- Firm commitment to safety and quality standards in every task.
