Warehouse Supervisor

Role Overview

This role puts you in charge of the day-to-day heartbeat of the warehouse — the people, the inventory flowing through it, and the standards that keep both running smoothly. You will translate company goals into floor-level execution, making sure goods arrive, get stored, and ship out accurately, safely, and on time. Success here directly protects margins, keeps customers supplied, and gives leadership reliable visibility into what is actually happening in the building.

Key Responsibilities

• Run daily warehouse activity across receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch, adjusting staffing and workflow to match volume and deadlines.
• Safeguard inventory accuracy through cycle counts, stock reconciliation, and prompt investigation of shortages, overages, and system-to-physical discrepancies.
• Write, roll out, and enforce warehouse procedures, operating standards, and safety rules, then hold the team accountable to them consistently.
• Recruit, onboard, schedule, coach, and motivate warehouse staff, setting clear performance expectations and holding regular review conversations.
• Track and report operational metrics such as throughput, order accuracy, on-time dispatch, and shrinkage, and use those numbers to drive improvements.
• Apply quality control checks so products leave in the right condition, in the right quantity, and to the right destination.
• Plan ahead for capacity, layout, equipment, and staffing needs as order volumes and product ranges change.
• Keep the facility and material-handling equipment in safe working order, coordinating maintenance and upholding health and safety compliance.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a comparable field, or equivalent hands-on work experience in place of a degree.
• Three to four years of warehouse or fulfillment operations experience, with prior team lead or supervisory responsibility strongly preferred.
• Practical familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory software, plus comfort using spreadsheets and reporting tools.
• Demonstrated ability to draft, implement, and enforce operational policies and procedures that people actually follow.
• Experience hiring, onboarding, training, and coaching warehouse employees, including conducting performance reviews.
• Solid grounding in inventory control practices — cycle counting, stock reconciliation, and root-cause investigation of variances.
• Working knowledge of warehouse safety regulations and safe material-handling practices.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving instincts, clear communication across shifts and departments, and the judgement to prioritise when everything looks urgent.
