Warehouse Controller-Special Economic Zone (SEZ) M/F

Role Overview

This Nairobi-based warehouse leadership role sits within a Special Economic Zone operation and reports directly to the General Manager – SEZ. The person in this position keeps the SEZ warehouse running smoothly day to day: receiving goods, storing and processing them, managing value-added work, and dispatching shipments while staying fully aligned with SEZ rules, customs requirements, and internal policies. The role matters because it protects compliance, inventory accuracy, client confidence, and cost control across every inbound and outbound movement.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct daily warehouse activity across receiving, put-away, storage, value-added processing, and dispatch, balancing space, labour, and equipment use so material flows without delays.
• Own inventory accuracy by keeping warehouse management system records current in SPEED WMS, running cycle counts and reconciliations, investigating variances, and keeping each client’s stock segregated and traceable.
• Manage SEZ value-added work such as kitting, repacking, labelling, assembly or disassembly, and cannibalization, ensuring every activity has proper authorization and documentation.
• Serve as the operational link to SEZA, KRA Customs, and other regulators; prepare and process inbound, transfer, processing, and outbound bond documentation, resolve approval or clearance issues, and maintain audit-ready records for all SEZ movements and value-added activities.
• Enforce HSE, quality, security, and loss-prevention standards through inspections, housekeeping audits, safety drills, and prompt correction of risks.
• Lead warehouse supervisors, operators, and support staff by setting schedules, organizing training, monitoring performance, and maintaining discipline and motivation.
• Act as the main warehouse contact for clients in the SEZ, communicating stock positions, processing progress, and dispatch schedules, and preparing periodic operational and compliance reports for management.
• Drive continuous improvement in layout, material handling, process automation, and lean logistics to reduce cost and increase throughput.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in logistics, supply chain management, or a related discipline.
• At least three years’ experience in supply chain, warehouse operations, or a comparable role.
• Prior exposure to a Special Economic Zone environment is an added advantage.
• Working knowledge of SEZ and customs procedures, including bonds, inbound and outbound documentation, and liaison with agencies such as SEZA and KRA Customs.
• Practical experience with warehouse management systems; familiarity with SPEED WMS is preferred.
• Strong inventory control skills, including cycle counting, reconciliation, variance analysis, and client stock segregation.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise warehouse teams, plan manpower, and uphold HSE, quality, and security standards.
• Clear communication and reporting skills for coordinating with clients, regulators, and internal departments.
