Job Description

Role Overview

As a Waiter at our Nairobi West Centre restaurant, you will be the face of our dining experience, ensuring every guest feels welcomed, well-guided, and genuinely cared for from arrival to departure. Your day-to-day work involves taking orders accurately, serving meals and beverages promptly, maintaining a clean and inviting floor, and handling payments with precision—all while keeping the kitchen and bar team in sync. This role is essential to our operation because your attentiveness directly influences customer satisfaction, repeat visits, and the overall reputation of our dining space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly as they arrive, seat them according to the floor plan, and make them feel comfortable throughout their visit.
  • Share menu knowledge confidently, including daily specials, ingredient details, and thoughtful drink pairings that elevate the meal.
  • Capture food and beverage orders accurately, noting dietary restrictions or custom requests, and relay them clearly to the kitchen and bar.
  • Serve dishes and drinks promptly and gracefully, following proper service etiquette and safety standards.
  • Monitor tables during the meal to check guest satisfaction, resolve concerns on the spot, and refill or clear items as needed.
  • Reset tables quickly after each guest leaves, sanitize surfaces, and restock condiments and service station supplies.
  • Prepare itemized bills, process cash, card, and mobile money payments correctly, and handle any billing questions politely.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties, including arrangement of tables, cutlery, and equipment, and promptly report any maintenance or service issues to the supervisor.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • At least two years of hands-on serving experience in a restaurant, café, hotel, or similar fast-paced hospitality setting.
  • A certificate or diploma in Hospitality Management, Food & Beverage Service, or a closely related field is required.
  • Solid verbal communication skills in both English and Kiswahili, with a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when taking orders, handling multiple tables, and remembering menu specifics.
  • Physical stamina and energy to stand, walk, and carry trays for long hours during busy shifts.
  • Training or certification in food safety, sanitation, and hygiene is an added advantage.
  • A team-orientated mindset with the ability to remain calm under pressure alongside kitchen and floor colleagues.

What We Offer / Why Join

We provide a dependable monthly gross salary of Kshs. 14,000 to 15,000, paid consistently within a stable restaurant environment. You will gain practical experience in guest relations, upselling, and professional food and beverage service, all while working within a supportive and energetic team at a popular dining location in Nairobi West Centre. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled waiter looking to grow in a busy, guest-focused setting.
