Job Description

Role Overview

This university faculty position involves shaping and delivering course content across multiple formats—lectures, labs, field studies, and online platforms—while also supervising student research and contributing to departmental administration. The role matters because it directly influences the quality of learning outcomes, supports the institution’s research output, and bridges academic theory with practical industry relevance through external partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and refine course outlines, lesson plans, and teaching aids for both contact and online delivery to ensure alignment with program goals.
  • Apply varied instructional methods—including group work, laboratory sessions, field visits, and off-class activities—to engage students and reinforce learning.
  • Create and implement assessment frameworks that measure student progress and provide actionable feedback.
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects, internships, and research activities, guiding students through their academic and practical work.
  • Conduct independent research within your specialist area, disseminate findings through journals, books, or digital media, and pursue grant applications and collaborative projects.
  • Advise students on academic choices, career pathways, and other concerns as needed.
  • Participate in conferences, workshops, seminars, industry outreach, and market visits to stay current and build institutional linkages.
  • Support departmental operations by contributing to administrative tasks, field programs, and related initiatives.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • PhD in a discipline directly relevant to the program domain; applicants who have completed coursework and are at the final data-collection stage of a PhD may also be considered if they hold a relevant Master’s degree.
  • A minimum of three years of verifiable industry experience in a field related to the teaching area.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders.
  • Effective organisational and planning capabilities to manage multiple teaching, research, and administrative tasks.
  • Demonstrated research competence, including a record of or potential for publishing in peer-reviewed outlets.
