Job Description

Role Overview

This position involves shaping and delivering an academic curriculum that meets both institutional and industry standards, working closely with students and faculty. Day-to-day work includes preparing course materials across multiple delivery formats, leading research efforts, and mentoring learners from undergraduate through postgraduate levels. The role is central to the university's mission of producing well-rounded graduates through innovative teaching, rigorous assessment, and active contribution to departmental growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, review, and update curricula and course outlines to maintain academic relevance and quality.
  • Develop detailed lesson plans and create engaging learning materials for both contact and online delivery.
  • Apply diverse instructional methods—including fieldwork, group work, lab sessions, assignments, and extracurricular activities—to facilitate student understanding.
  • Construct and implement assessment plans that measure learning outcomes effectively.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate research projects, internships, and thesis work.
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research within your specialist area, publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals, books, or digital platforms, and actively pursue grant funding.
  • Provide academic and career advising to students, addressing concerns as they arise.
  • Participate in professional development events (conferences, workshops, seminars) and strengthen industry linkages through outreach visits and partnerships.
  • Take on administrative responsibilities and support field operations or programmes as needed by the department.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • PhD in a field directly related to the programme domain; or a Master’s degree in a relevant field combined with final-stage PhD status (data collection phase).
  • At least three years of professional experience in the relevant industry, beyond academic roles.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with students, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Solid organisational and planning capabilities to manage multiple teaching, research, and administrative tasks.
  • Demonstrated research skills, including experience with publication and grant writing.
