Role Overview
This position centres on owning and nurturing a portfolio of high-value banking clients, ensuring they receive tailored advice and access to the full range of personal and business banking solutions. Day to day, you will balance proactive client engagement with operational discipline, from reviewing loan documentation to identifying opportunities that deepen each customer's relationship with the bank. Your efforts directly support the bank's revenue targets by expanding both the deposit base and the asset book while protecting the institution through careful risk and compliance practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and cultivate new client relationships while expanding existing ones, using cross-selling strategies to grow both deposits and lending portfolios.
- Oversee a designated portfolio of up to 200 customers, with concentrated attention on the top 50 to ensure high-touch service and retention.
- Drive deposit mobilisation and asset growth initiatives, actively managing revenue streams and increasing product penetration per customer.
- Step in for the Branch Business Manager when required, steering the team toward strategic objectives and operational targets.
- Maintain regular client contact to assess satisfaction, anticipate needs, and secure ongoing business continuity.
- Scrutinise account opening forms and loan applications, verifying that all documentation meets KYC standards and internal policies.
- Validate data entry accuracy by comparing captured information against original source documents.
- Interview mortgage applicants to analyse borrowing capacity, recommend suitable mortgage products, and act as a dual custodian to protect bank assets from fraud or loss.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline; a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Professional certifications such as Retail Banking Associate (RBA UK) or equivalent, plus a Customer Relationship Management course; CISI Level 1 certification is a plus.
- Minimum of three years of experience in a comparable relationship management or banking role.
- Solid command of banking products, procedures, and services, along with familiarity with CBK Prudential Guidelines.
- Proven selling and negotiation skills, basic accounting capability, and strong analytical thinking.
- Effective teamwork, interpersonal, and leadership abilities, with clear written and verbal communication.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to ethical banking conduct.
