This faculty position centres on delivering high-quality instruction and developing academic programmes in Mechanical Engineering, with a particular focus on specialisations such as Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Maintenance and Reliability, or Materials Engineering. Day-to-day work involves teaching lectures and practical sessions, designing new courses, and continuously improving existing curriculum content in collaboration with departmental colleagues. The role also carries a strong research component, requiring the pursuit of original investigations, preparation of grant proposals, and dissemination of findings through publications and conference presentations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver lectures, practicals, and other teaching sessions in areas assigned by the Head of Department.
  • Design, develop, and plan new programmes of study at various academic levels, including entirely new courses.
  • Regularly review course content and learning materials, updating them to reflect current developments and maintain quality.
  • Collaborate with academic colleagues on curriculum changes, course development, and joint research activities.
  • Conduct independent research, produce scholarly outputs, and write grant proposals to secure external funding.
  • Identify and pursue consultancy opportunities related to your engineering expertise.
  • Present research findings at national or international conferences and other academic events.
  • Mentor students and provide career guidance, as well as support the professional growth of junior staff.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Must be registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, with demonstrated progression toward completion.
  • A Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a specialisation in Mechatronics and Automation Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Maintenance and Reliability Engineering, or Materials Engineering, from an accredited university.
  • A minimum of three years of post-qualification work experience after the highest relevant degree.
  • Proven experience in university-level teaching and in conducting research.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional engineering body (where applicable).

What We Offer / Why Join

This position provides the opportunity to shape course offerings and research directions within a specialised engineering department. You will be able to collaborate closely with academic peers on curriculum innovation and build a research portfolio that can gain national and international visibility through conferences, publications, and grant-funded projects.
