Role Overview
This faculty position centres on delivering high-quality instruction and developing academic programmes in Mechanical Engineering, with a particular focus on specialisations such as Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Maintenance and Reliability, or Materials Engineering. Day-to-day work involves teaching lectures and practical sessions, designing new courses, and continuously improving existing curriculum content in collaboration with departmental colleagues. The role also carries a strong research component, requiring the pursuit of original investigations, preparation of grant proposals, and dissemination of findings through publications and conference presentations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver lectures, practicals, and other teaching sessions in areas assigned by the Head of Department.
- Design, develop, and plan new programmes of study at various academic levels, including entirely new courses.
- Regularly review course content and learning materials, updating them to reflect current developments and maintain quality.
- Collaborate with academic colleagues on curriculum changes, course development, and joint research activities.
- Conduct independent research, produce scholarly outputs, and write grant proposals to secure external funding.
- Identify and pursue consultancy opportunities related to your engineering expertise.
- Present research findings at national or international conferences and other academic events.
- Mentor students and provide career guidance, as well as support the professional growth of junior staff.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Must be registered for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, with demonstrated progression toward completion.
- A Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a specialisation in Mechatronics and Automation Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Maintenance and Reliability Engineering, or Materials Engineering, from an accredited university.
- A minimum of three years of post-qualification work experience after the highest relevant degree.
- Proven experience in university-level teaching and in conducting research.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional engineering body (where applicable).
