Role Overview
This role is responsible for driving channel performance by visiting retail outlets and mobile money agent locations to boost SIM registration activity and float turnover. You will ensure that points of sale are well-stocked, properly merchandised, and that agents and sub-distributors are fully trained on transaction processes and compliance requirements. The position directly supports the company’s goal of expanding its agent network and increasing active usage of mobile money and airtime products.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, recruit, and map new sub-distributors (SSOs) and mobile money agents, focusing on high-traffic retail stores and existing money-transfer outlets.
- Follow agreed daily route plans to visit assigned agents and sub-distributors consistently, maintaining a high call rate and addressing operational issues on-site.
- Equip each outlet with the necessary transaction tools (e.g., point-of-sale devices, scratch cards) and train agents and SSOs on how to use them correctly, including step-by-step processes for T-Kash and SIM registration.
- Deliver anti-money laundering (AML) training to agents and ensure SSOs understand the Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements for SIM registration.
- Monitor agent float levels and enforce the 1.5x stock rule, while also verifying that SSOs carry sufficient SIM inventory to support new activations.
- Maintain high merchandising standards by supplying and positioning promotional materials (posters, banners, leaflets) at every agent and SSO outlet.
- Track sales performance and stock coverage, reporting any gaps or non-compliance to the Area Sales Manager.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- At least one year of experience in sales or distribution within an FMCG company or telecommunications firm.
- Proven ability to influence and negotiate with retail partners and agents.
- Strong networking skills and experience building partnerships with small business owners.
- Analytical mindset to assess sales data, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions.
- Customer-focused approach with the ability to resolve agent queries quickly.
- Willingness to travel extensively within a designated territory and work flexible hours when needed.
