Job Description

Role Overview

This field-based role sits at the heart of the telecom client’s retail channel growth strategy. You will work directly with authorised mobile money outlets, T-Kash agents, and SIM-selling outlets (SSOs), making regular visits to ensure they remain active, well-stocked, and fully compliant. Your daily focus is on converting underperforming points of sale into productive revenue drivers through better SIM availability, stronger float management, and sharper in-store visibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify and onboard new SSOs and mobile money agents by mapping high-footfall retail locations and evaluating their potential for transaction volumes.
  • Follow structured route plans to carry out consistent outlet visitations, using each call to assess performance, resolve operational issues, and push for increased SIM activations and float turnover.
  • Equip every outlet with the transaction tools and materials needed to serve customers effectively, then train SSO and T-Kash staff on system use, troubleshooting, and compliance procedures.
  • Deliver anti-money laundering (AML) training to agents and ensure SSOs enforce correct KYC processes during customer SIM registration, minimising regulatory risk at the point of sale.
  • Monitor agent float levels and enforce the 1.5x stock-cover rule, stepping in with coaching or corrective action when agents fall short of required liquidity or SIM inventory.
  • Guarantee that SSOs maintain adequate SIM stock for new registrations and activations, coordinating with distribution partners to close stock gaps before they affect sales.
  • Upgrade merchandising standards across the assigned territory by installing and rotating point-of-purchase materials, promotional displays, and brand identifiers so outlets remain visibly aligned with the telecom brand.
  • Track outlet-level performance data, capture competitive intelligence, and report actionable insights to the Area Sales Manager to refine beat plans and recruitment priorities.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Commerce, or a directly related discipline.
  • At least one year of hands-on experience in sales, field distribution, or trade development within an FMCG, telecom, or mobile financial services environment.
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to build trusted, long-term working relationships with independent retailers and agents.
  • Persuasive influencing and negotiation skills to convince outlets to adopt new stock targets, float thresholds, and compliance practices.
  • Proven networking ability to open doors at unregistered retail outlets and secure buy-in from local business owners.
  • Analytical mindset for interpreting sales data, identifying underperforming outlets, and deciding which locations deserve recruitment or intervention effort.
