Job Description
Role Overview
This role leads the shift-level warehouse team through all physical and system-driven tasks that keep goods moving: receiving, put-away, stock replenishment, order picking, loading, and dispatch. The warehouse supervisor is accountable for ensuring each shift meets its load plan without compromising accuracy, safety, or stock integrity. Because the site is a bottling and production environment, the role acts as a critical bridge between manufacturing output and distribution deadlines, so any lapse in coordination quickly disrupts production lines and customer deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct inbound and outbound operations: coordinate unloading and receiving, put-away, picking, staging, and loading so that trucks are turned around quickly and daily load plans are met.
- Keep picking and staging zones replenished on time, and enforce correct bin locations, stacking heights, and warehouse layout standards.
- Act as the warehouse-manufacturing link on the wet site: remove finished stock from production lines, feed quality pallets to lines, and ensure every issue and return is accurately signed off between teams.
- Run the rework and stock-rotation process to protect product quality: apply First Expiry, First Out principles, track breakages and decanting, and flag substandard packaging or damaged goods for corrective action.
- Ensure all system transactions are accurate and timely, perform end-of-shift reconciliations, and conduct a clear shift handover to the incoming team.
- Manage and develop the team: provide on-the-job coaching, hold shift meetings, resolve issues promptly, and plan resources around activity peaks so productivity targets are achieved.
- Safeguard company assets: enforce pre-trip inspection for forklifts and pallet jacks, report damages or breakdowns, monitor fuel usage, and maintain the service schedule.
- Enforce health, safety, and housekeeping standards across the team so that every work area remains safe, clean, and compliant with operational guidelines.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and practical experience may be considered.
- Minimum of five years in warehouse operations, with at least two years in a supervisory role, preferably in a fast-paced bottling, FMCG, or production environment.
- Solid understanding of warehouse management principles, inventory governance, and best-practice stock handling.
- Practical knowledge of health and safety regulations in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Experience implementing process improvements and efficiency initiatives rather than only maintaining existing routines.
- Ability to make sound, data-driven decisions using warehouse knowledge, system information, and desired operational outcomes.
- Proven leadership capability: coaching, developing individuals, managing team performance, and driving a culture of accountability.
- Strong employee relations and communication skills, with the ability to address conflict constructively.
- Membership in a professional supply chain, finance, or procurement body is an added advantage.
