Role Overview
This position sits at the technical heart of the bank’s digital ecosystem, owning the links that let core banking systems, mobile channels, and outside partners exchange data reliably. Day to day, you will build and support API and middleware solutions, keep message flows healthy, and step in quickly when an integration breaks so that customer-facing services do not suffer. Your work directly underpins the bank’s operational efficiency and its ability to launch and run modern digital banking products.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build integration flows on the bank’s middleware stack, covering ESB, SOA, REST APIs, and microservices, and configure message routing, data transformation, and orchestration logic.
- Develop and maintain API contracts, integration specifications, and technical documentation for every integration you own, and align these with the enterprise architecture standards.
- Participate in design reviews and ensure that solutions follow the bank’s CI/CD pipeline, version control practices, and security requirements for authentication, authorisation, encryption, and audit trails.
- Monitor the integration platform for performance and availability, proactively spotting bottlenecks or failures before they affect operations, and perform routine housekeeping of queues, logs, and dashboards.
- Provide Level 2 incident support for integration faults, diagnosing root causes and resolving issues within agreed SLAs, while escalating complex cases to the System Integrations Manager.
- Create and execute integration test plans covering end-to-end, regression, and performance scenarios, support formal QA and UAT cycles, and verify that all fixes behave correctly after deployment.
- Patch and maintain middleware, API gateways, and message brokers according to vendor guidance, and contribute to disaster recovery planning and testing for critical systems.
- Keep an eye on emerging integration tools and practices, take part in proof-of-concept exercises, and help automate deployment and monitoring tasks.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering, or a closely related field.
- Two to four years of hands-on experience in system integration, API development, or middleware development, with proven delivery of integrations using ESB, SOA, or API platforms.
- Strong working knowledge of REST and SOAP API design, development, and lifecycle management, including API gateways and message brokers.
- Solid experience in integration testing, troubleshooting, and defect resolution, with a clear approach to preventing critical defects from reaching production.
- Familiarity with Java or .NET development, ITIL practices, and integration certifications such as MuleSoft, IBM Integration Bus, or WSO2 is an added advantage.
- Previous experience in a banking or financial services environment is preferred, along with an understanding of CBK technology regulations and banking information security expectations.
