Role Overview
The Software Developer will be embedded within the METAL product team, a group focused on building tools that turn CRRD program data into clear, decision-ready KPIs for leadership. Day-to-day work centers on designing and maintaining Microsoft PowerApps and Power Automate solutions, while also supporting the surrounding data ecosystem that includes Power BI, Databricks, and Azure SQL. This role is critical because the tools under development are used by program teams to monitor, evaluate, and steer their operations, meaning even routine fixes and configuration changes can directly influence how IRC leadership makes consequential choices about programming, resources, and impact.
The role also involves close collaboration with cross-functional partners such as QA analysts, product managers, and data engineers, and it carries a strong operational component: troubleshooting issues, answering requests, and guiding users through technical problems. Whether standing up a new data product or keeping an existing one stable, the developer helps ensure that data sources remain accurate, secure, and useful for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data applications using Microsoft PowerApps and Power Automate, with a focus on addressing real operational and reporting needs for CRRD programs.
- Partner with METAL product leads and sector specialists to support the rollout of organization-wide data products, including requirements gathering, testing, and iterative improvements.
- Produce clear technical documentation such as system diagrams, implementation guides, and configuration references so that current and future teams can effectively maintain the systems.
- Implement data quality checks and enforce development and configuration standards that keep metrics accurate, secure, and consistent across the organization.
- Act as a Tier-2 and Tier-3 support resource, handling escalated technical issues, routing problems to the appropriate owners, and resolving reported defects efficiently.
- Collaborate with IT and data engineering colleagues on system integration efforts, ensuring Power Platform solutions work properly with existing corporate infrastructure.
- Translate business and product requirements into well-scoped development tasks, and participate in setting the technical direction for data quality, system configuration, and data security processes.
- Provide hyper-support during initial pilot phases of new technology rollouts, working closely with users to identify and fix issues quickly before broader deployment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least five years of experience working in technology roles that involve developing and rolling out data platforms for program or operational use, with at least three years specifically focused on building, implementing, and supporting PowerApps applications in large, complex environments.
- Solid experience using version control and source code management platforms such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, or comparable tools.
- Familiarity with structured team development methods including pair programming, shadowing sessions, peer code reviews, and similar strategies to maintain code consistency and share knowledge across the team.
- Strong code quality practices across the development cycle—unit testing, integration testing, and regression testing—to minimize risk and ensure production releases are stable.
- Proficiency in English for both verbal communication (e.g., team meetings, day-to-day discussions) and written deliverables such as requirement documents, design specs, and technical instructions.
- A system-thinking mindset, with strong analytical curiosity and a demonstrated ability to solve problems through investigation and creative structuring rather than isolated fixes.
- Proven capability to work effectively both as an independent contributor and within a dynamic, cross-functional group, while maintaining productive relationships with colleagues across all organizational levels and departments.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline. Applicable professional experience may supplement formal education at the recruiter’s discretion.
- Additional valuable experience includes working with Databricks, Dataverse connectors, APIs, and Microsoft Azure, as well as holding a certification such as Microsoft Power Platform Developer. These are preferred and not strict prerequisites.
