Job Purpose Statement
The Systems Administrator acts as a technical support expert for the following technologies: Hyper-V; 3PAR Storage; Exchange/Office 365; Active Directory; Proxy Server; Mail Marshal; Web Marshal; SharePoint; Skype for Business; Unix systems and Virtualization. The Systems Administrator will resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, ensuring high availability and performance of the IT infrastructure.
Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)
Systems Architecture (20%)
- Plan and design servers, storage, Windows, Microsoft Office 365, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and Data Center requirements in alignment with business plans and technology strategy.
- Ensure that servers and Data Centers are properly monitored and administered to maintain optimal performance.
Systems Configuration/Deployment (20%)
- Install and configure servers, storage, Windows, and Microsoft Office 365.
- Perform monitoring and capacity planning according to IT policies and standards.
- Provide guidance to users on features and usage to ensure proper use and improved performance.
Systems Support/Patch Management (20%)
- Support, maintain, patch, and administer servers (both physical and virtual), including hardware, OS (Windows), 3PAR Storage, and Microsoft products.
Active Directory/Group Policy Management (10%)
- Maintain Active Directory by creating accounts, troubleshooting authentication, configuring domain controllers, managing DNS and DHCP, and implementing Group Policies.
Project Management (10%)
- Assist in implementing projects related to servers, storage, Windows, backup, and monitoring in accordance with the bank’s requirements.
- Monitor capacity and performance of group servers to ensure optimum efficiency.
Business Continuity (10%)
- Maintain disaster readiness as agreed and ensure regular DR exercises are conducted.
- Assist in developing a Business Continuity Plan for the IT Infrastructure of the bank.
Support of IT Strategy (10%)
- Ensure effective integration of the IT infrastructure blueprint with the bank’s business direction.
- Contribute to the effectiveness of system administration (policy, controls, and infrastructure) to protect against data loss, corruption, and unauthorized access.
- Support other areas as necessary, including on-premises, hybrid, and cloud instances.
Job Specifications
Academic
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Professional
- Professional qualifications in IT such as ITIL, MCSE, A+, MCITP, MCP, VCP, RHCSA, or other relevant professional certifications in the IT field (preferred).
- Project Management certification and experience (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) is preferred.
- Cloud Administration certifications in Azure, Oracle, Kubernetes, or AWS are preferred.
Desired Work Experience
- Minimum 4 years working experience in a busy IT environment with a hands-on role in implementing and supporting Exchange, 3PAR Storage, Proxy Server, Mail Marshal, Web Marshal, SharePoint, Skype for Business, and virtualization.
- Experience with Windows Enterprise servers and UNIX systems.
- Experience with Hyper-V/VMware or other virtualization platforms.
- Experience with HP Server Platforms (rack mount and blades).
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with MS System Centre (SCCM, SCOM) configuration.
- Experience with Office 365 (Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online) and Active Directory Services.
