Strategy Manager

Role Overview

Based in Nairobi and working on-site, the Strategy Manager helps shape and deliver strategic priorities across ICEA LION Group’s insurance and financial services businesses. The role combines market insight, financial and business performance analysis, and collaboration with senior leaders to identify opportunities, guide decisions, and keep strategic initiatives moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess market conditions, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities across the Group’s insurance and financial services portfolio.
• Review business performance and translate financial and operational data into insights for leadership.
• Develop and refine strategic frameworks, plans, and recommendations in partnership with business units.
• Prepare clear executive presentations and reports that explain findings, options, and proposed actions.
• Coordinate cross-functional projects and support teams in putting agreed strategic initiatives into practice.
• Monitor progress against strategic objectives, identify delivery issues, and help maintain alignment across the Group.
• Work with senior leadership and business unit heads to inform decisions and connect business priorities with the Group’s direction.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Experience in a strategy role, preferably in insurance, financial services, or a closely related sector.
• Consulting or management consulting experience focused on strategy development and implementation.
• Strong analytical capability, including quantitative analysis, data interpretation, and structured problem-solving.
• Financial knowledge covering financial modelling and performance analysis; familiarity with insurance or financial services is valuable.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex material to varied stakeholders.
• Demonstrated stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively across functions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline; an advanced qualification such as an MBA is an advantage.
