Storekeeper

Role Overview

The Storekeeper at QMP is a full-time, on-site position in Nairobi that anchors the daily flow of materials and products from delivery to storage and internal distribution. On a typical day, you will receive and unload incoming goods, verify them against paperwork, and organise stock so it remains safe, accurate, and easy to retrieve. This role is vital for keeping procurement, production, and logistics teams supplied on time while maintaining strict hygiene, safety, and halal standards throughout the storage areas.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials and products, checking quantities and conditions against delivery documents and flagging any shortages, damage, or discrepancies immediately.
• Move and store items in designated locations using correct stacking and stock rotation practices (such as FIFO) to protect product quality and maximise storage space.
• Pack and organise goods for internal use or dispatch, ensuring items stay intact and are labelled or recorded correctly.
• Enter and update inventory details in the company’s system or ERP, keeping physical stock and recorded quantities aligned.
• Conduct routine stock checks and reconciliations, investigating and resolving any mismatches with relevant colleagues.
• Operate forklifts or other material-handling equipment safely, following site rules and completing pre-use checks as required.
• Coordinate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to confirm stock availability and support timely supply to other departments.
• Maintain a clean, orderly store that complies with hygiene, safety, and halal requirements, escalating any concerns to a supervisor.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Proven ability to manage inventory control—tracking stock movements, keeping accurate records, and reconciling counts.
• Practical experience packing and organising goods so that products remain in good condition and storage space is used efficiently.
• Hands-on capability to unload deliveries and handle materials safely.
• Competence operating a forklift or similar material-handling equipment, with a strong awareness of safety procedures.
• Previous work in a warehouse, storekeeping, or logistics setting, ideally within food processing or manufacturing.
• Good attention to detail, basic numeracy, and comfort using inventory software or ERP systems.
• Ability to follow hygiene, safety, and halal protocols and to collaborate with people across different teams.
• A vocational qualification or certificate in storekeeping or warehouse operations is an advantage, as is familiarity with ISO or similar standards.
