Role Overview
This position sits at the heart of our manufacturing finance operation, ensuring that every item moving through our warehouses—from raw materials to finished goods—is accurately accounted for in the ERP system. Day to day, you will lead stock-taking efforts, dig into discrepancies, and refine the controls that keep inventory losses at bay. Your work directly safeguards the accuracy of our financial statements and gives production and procurement teams the dependable data they need to make fast, confident decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full inventory control framework: update procedures, tighten oversight, and make sure ERP workflows mirror what actually happens on the warehouse floor.
- Plan and execute monthly stock counts plus periodic cycle counts, then reconcile every variance between the physical count and system balances.
- Dig into the root cause of stock discrepancies—whether they stem from receiving errors, mis-posted transfers, or production scrap—and implement fixes that prevent recurrence.
- Track every inventory movement, including inter-warehouse transfers, purchases, sales returns, and manual adjustments, verifying that each transaction is posted correctly and on time.
- Cross-check goods received against supplier invoices and GRNs, flagging quantity or pricing mismatches before they hit the general ledger.
- Analyse inventory ageing reports and work with operations to clear slow-moving, expired, or obsolete stock through write-offs, returns, or re-purposing.
- Ensure daily production output figures are accurately captured and posted, so manufacturing costs reflect true output in the ERP.
- Partner with warehouse supervisors to cut down on shrinkage, damage, and waste, while also preparing audit-ready documentation for monthly close and external auditors.
- Supervise and mentor the Inventory Accounts Assistants, reviewing their work and elevating the team's accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- CPA Intermediate level or higher—this is non-negotiable, as the role requires deep accounting principles knowledge.
- Minimum three years of hands-on inventory or stock control experience inside a manufacturing plant (FMCG, pharmaceuticals, or similar high-volume production is ideal).
- Practical mastery of inventory control concepts: FIFO/FEFO, stock rotation, bin locations, and cycle counting methodology.
- Advanced Excel skills—pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas for reconciliation—plus comfort navigating major ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to spot patterns in data and translate them into actionable process improvements.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with warehouse staff, procurement, production planners, and external auditors.
- Proven organisational skills and the composure to meet tight month-end deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
