Role Overview
We are assembling a team of culinary professionals to support our restaurant through a phase of expansion. This is not a single open position but a pool of talent that we will draw from as we build out our kitchen team. In this role, you will contribute to daily food preparation and cooking, uphold our standards for quality and cleanliness, and work closely with fellow kitchen staff to keep service running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and sanitary workstation in line with food safety regulations.
- Manage your assigned station efficiently during service, keeping pace with demand while preserving quality.
- Assist with receiving deliveries, checking stock levels, and rotating ingredients to minimise waste.
- Collaborate with other kitchen team members to ensure orders go out correctly and in a timely manner.
- Follow all health and safety protocols, including proper handling and storage of food.
- Keep equipment clean and report any maintenance issues to a supervisor.
- Support the wider team with prep work and other tasks as needed during peak periods.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Prior experience in a professional kitchen, typically 1–2 years in a similar role such as line cook, prep cook, or kitchen assistant.
- Solid knife skills and familiarity with standard cooking techniques and equipment.
- Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, ideally certified in or familiar with HACCP principles.
- Ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced environment, especially during busy service times.
- Reliable, punctual, and consistent in your attendance and work ethic.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to take direction from senior kitchen staff.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by restaurant operations.
- A genuine passion for food and a desire to grow with an evolving team.
