Role Overview
You will join a fast-moving software team that needs a constant stream of engaging, platform-native video content. On a typical day, you’ll turn raw footage and short scripts into punchy ads and organic clips for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, then package them in multiple variations to find what resonates with Kenyan audiences. Your work directly fuels paid campaigns and social growth, so a strong feel for local internet culture is just as important as your editing speed.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut, caption, and assemble short-form videos from briefs and scripts, keeping pacing, hooks, and retention top of mind.
- Localise creative assets for East African viewers in English, Swahili, and Sheng, including slang, tone, and cultural references.
- Produce multiple video variants of each asset to support A/B testing across ad platforms and organic channels.
- Monitor baseline performance metrics such as watch time, click-through rate, and engagement, then apply those insights to future edits.
- Stay current with trending Kenyan sounds, formats, and meme patterns to ensure content feels native to TikTok and Reels.
- Work efficiently within tight turnarounds, managing several edits at once without sacrificing visual quality.
- Collaborate with the broader team to align video output with campaign goals and brand voice.
Requirements & Qualifications
- At least one year of hands-on short-form editing experience using CapCut, Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or equivalent editing software.
- A portfolio containing five or more finished short-form videos, ideally for social media or paid ads.
- Full professional fluency in English and Swahili, with comfortable, natural usage of Sheng in creative contexts.
- Solid grasp of Kenyan TikTok trends, viral audio, meme timing, and current social media content structures.
- Ability to work with supplied scripts and creative briefs while adding your own flair where appropriate.
- Reliable internet connection and familiarity with file sharing and media management tools.
