Job Description

Role Overview

Family Bank is opening its doors to banking professionals who want to grow a career inside one of Kenya's most trusted financial institutions. The roles on offer sit across the bank's day-to-day operations, where success is measured by how well customers are served, how accurately money and records are handled, and how consistently the bank's standards of integrity are upheld. This is a chance to join an established Kenyan bank at a point where your contribution is visible to customers and colleagues alike, rather than one cog in a distant machine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve retail, SME and institutional customers at the counter, over the phone or through digital channels, handling deposits, withdrawals, transfers, payments and account queries accurately and within agreed turnaround times.
  • Onboard new customers and keep existing files current, collecting and verifying identification, source-of-funds and other documentation required under Kenya's KYC and anti-money-laundering rules.
  • Assess credit and lending requests, prepare appraisal documentation, and monitor disbursed facilities for repayment performance and early signs of distress.
  • Reconcile daily transactions, cash holdings and ledger entries, escalating and resolving discrepancies before they reach the audit trail.
  • Identify customer needs and introduce relevant bank products and services, contributing to deposit growth and revenue targets for your branch or unit.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and service failures, keeping a clear record of the issue, the action taken and the outcome.
  • Maintain records and reports to the standard required for internal audit, external audit and Central Bank of Kenya supervisory reviews.
  • Work with colleagues across departments to keep processes efficient, share knowledge and cover peak workloads.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, accounting, commerce or a related discipline from a recognised university.
  • Prior experience in a commercial bank, microfinance institution or comparable financial services environment; the level of experience expected depends on the seniority of the position applied for.
  • Working knowledge of Kenyan banking practice, prudential regulation, and KYC/AML obligations.
  • Confidence using core banking systems and standard office software, with the numeracy and attention to detail needed to work with figures under pressure.
  • Strong written and spoken English and Kiswahili, and the ability to explain products and policies plainly to customers.
  • A demonstrable record of integrity and sound judgement, since these roles involve handling customer funds and confidential information.
  • A current, detailed CV and a cover letter that sets out the position you are pursuing and why your background fits it.

Why Join Family Bank

Few sectors reward consistency and trust as directly as banking, and Family Bank positions itself among Kenya's most trusted institutions. Joining means building your career somewhere that reputation is the core asset, so the standards you keep and the customers you retain genuinely shape the bank's standing. If you are looking for a long-term banking career rather than a short stop, this is the environment to pursue it in.
