Senior HR Officer

Role Overview

This role acts as the on-the-ground people function for a group of regional offices, covering everything from hiring and onboarding through to performance conversations and the more sensitive employee relations cases. Sitting between local leadership and the central HR team, the post-holder keeps people practices consistent across markets while still responding to what each individual site genuinely needs. It matters because managers in these locations depend on having a trusted HR counterpart who can advise in the moment, keep records and reporting accurate, and surface workforce risks before they turn into bigger problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of HR contact for assigned regional offices, advising local managers on day-to-day people matters and escalating issues that require head office involvement, while coaching and mentoring less experienced members of the HR team.
• Run recruitment from start to finish for the region — agreeing the requirement with hiring managers, screening and interviewing candidates, managing offers, and seeing new joiners through a structured induction.
• Guide managers through the performance cycle, from setting objectives and conducting reviews to addressing underperformance constructively and documenting outcomes.
• Handle employee relations casework directly, including disciplinary processes, grievances, and workplace investigations, and coach managers on conducting these conversations fairly and consistently.
• Keep the region compliant with applicable employment legislation and internal HR policy, coordinate HR audits, and prepare statutory and organisational reporting.
• Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and HR systems data, support compensation and benefits administration with relevant market insight, and produce workforce metrics and management dashboards that inform decisions.
• Design and support initiatives that improve engagement, retention, and learning and development across the regional workforce.
• Contribute to workforce planning, staffing movements, organisational restructuring, and other strategic people projects, while working with HR colleagues in other locations to standardise processes and share best practice.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Human Resources Management or a closely related discipline.
• Four to six years of progressive HR generalist experience, including responsibility for HR operations spanning more than one site or location.
• Solid working knowledge of employment legislation, HR policy, employee relations practice, and current developments in the HR field.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience across the core HR functions: talent management, performance management, recruitment, learning and development, and workforce planning.
• Confidence with HR analytics and reporting — able to interpret data, spot trends, and use evidence to solve people-related problems.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills, with a track record of managing relationships across a range of stakeholders.
• Comfort operating across diverse teams and geographies, supported by strong organisational and coordination abilities.
• Discretion and sound judgement when handling confidential employee information.
