Role Overview
This role sits at the heart of a flagship global programme dedicated to preventing violence against women and girls. Day to day, you will lead the translation of complex research findings into compelling, audience-specific communications—policy briefs, reports, media content, and digital assets—that directly shape advocacy and influencing efforts. Your work will build the programme’s external visibility and internal coherence, ensuring evidence reaches decision‑makers, funders, and practitioners to drive real‑world change in the GBV prevention field.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary communications bridge between the implementation and research consortia, coordinating the production and dissemination of publications, reports, and evidence products.
- Lead the synthesis of grant and study evidence into accessible, engaging formats for diverse audiences including policymakers, practitioners, donors, media, and allied sectors (education, climate, humanitarian response).
- Partner with the External Engagement and Influencing team to respond to information requests, surface trends and highlights, and create visibility materials for donor reporting and high‑level engagements.
- Develop and execute strategic communication frameworks for major product launches, events, commemorations, and milestones, forging partnerships to amplify reach.
- Prepare crisis communication plans, playbooks, and escalation protocols, and provide strategic guidance during sensitive or high‑profile situations that carry reputational or operational risk.
- Produce multimedia content (including video, photography, case studies, and graphics) and manage freelance content creators, ensuring adherence to informed‑consent and ethical standards.
- Oversee internal communications, such as the quarterly newsletter, and compile digital metrics and communications achievements for donor reporting.
- Supervise the Social Media and Digital Officer, guiding social media strategy across X/Twitter, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and Facebook, and managing the programme’s website.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, or a closely related field from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 6–8 years of professional experience in a communications role, with a track record of producing public‑facing content (documents, reports, digital materials).
- Experience in or strong familiarity with development and/or humanitarian programming, and comfort operating in emergency‑context environments.
- Proven ability to use social media for communications and advocacy, and experience with graphic design, photography, and videography.
- Excellent IT skills including advanced Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint; familiarity with AI‑powered communication tools.
- Willingness and ability to travel to field sites to document findings and gather evidence.
- Fluent written and spoken English required; knowledge of French or Arabic is an added advantage.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage a heavy, fluctuating workload while prioritising competing demands from a large cross‑organisational team.
- Experience with digital analytics tools and quantitative/metric data (desirable), and proven experience organising events or workshops.
