Description:
A reputable organization is currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Commercial Engineer / Commercial Engineer to join their team. This role is ideal for professionals with strong post-contract commercial management experience and a deep understanding of contractual and financial processes within engineering or construction projects.
The selected candidate will play a key role in managing project costs, contractual compliance, and financial performance from project award through to final close-out.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage all post-contract commercial activities from project award through to final handover and close-out
• Prepare, administer, and track Interim Payment Applications (IPAs) and Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs), ensuring timely submission and follow-up for payment collection
• Monitor project cash flow and ensure accurate invoicing and certification processes
• Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate Variation Orders (VOs), including cost estimation and impact analysis
• Identify and resolve payment-related issues such as delays, discrepancies, and under-certification
• Develop detailed cost breakdowns, rate analysis, and remeasurement aligned with site progress
• Review and interpret contract terms to ensure compliance and protect commercial interests
• Apply strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts related to variations, claims, EOT, payments, and final accounts
• Prepare and manage commercial claims, including entitlement and documentation
• Track project budgets, costs, and forecasts to meet financial targets
• Coordinate with engineering, planning, and site teams for validation of progress and quantities
• Utilize AutoCAD for drawing review and PlanSwift for quantity take-offs
• Maintain organized commercial records, including logs for payments, variations, and claims
• Participate in commercial meetings with stakeholders to resolve issues
• Ensure proper commercial close-out, including final accounts and settlement
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar commercial engineering role
• Strong technical proficiency in AutoCAD/BIM and MS Excel
• Good understanding of contractual and commercial management processes
