Senior Backup & Storage Engineer

Role Overview

As a Senior Backup & Storage Engineer, you will operate and improve the systems that protect enterprise data and keep critical services recoverable. You’ll manage backup and storage environments, resolve failures, and support disaster recovery readiness while working alongside infrastructure and operations teams. This is a 12-month, full-time onsite contract based in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, administer, and maintain enterprise backup and storage infrastructure.
• Run backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes to support data protection and business continuity.
• Manage SAN and NAS environments, monitoring capacity, availability, and performance.
• Review backup-job results, investigate failures, and restore data when requested.
• Support enterprise platforms such as Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Dell EMC, NetApp, or comparable technologies.
• Coordinate with infrastructure and operations colleagues to protect business-critical systems.
• Apply organizational security policies, operational standards, and established technology practices.
• Maintain technical records and provide day-to-day operational support during the contract.

Requirements & Qualifications

• At least 8 years of experience in backup and storage engineering.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
• Practical experience with SAN, NAS, and disaster recovery technologies.
• Experience administering one or more enterprise platforms, including Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Dell EMC, or NetApp.
• Relevant technical certifications.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with clear communication skills.
• Available to work onsite five days per week in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
