Role Overview
This position focuses on diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions affecting the skin, hair, and nails in both routine and complex cases. Day-to-day work involves examining patients, interpreting diagnostic results, prescribing treatments, and performing minor procedures, while also guiding patients on long-term skincare and prevention. The role is essential to improving patient quality of life through accurate clinical judgment, timely intervention, and clear patient education.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations of patients’ skin, hair, and nails to identify dermatological conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, fungal infections, and skin cancer.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests and skin biopsies to support accurate diagnoses and monitor disease progression.
- Prescribe appropriate medications, including topical creams, ointments, and oral drugs, while adjusting treatment plans based on patient response.
- Manage chronic skin disorders like dermatitis and rosacea, providing ongoing care and follow-up to minimize flare-ups and complications.
- Perform minor surgical procedures, including mole and cyst removal, and administer treatments for skin cancer through excision or cryotherapy.
- Deliver aesthetic and corrective treatments such as chemical peels, Botox injections, laser therapy, and procedures targeting scars, wrinkles, and pigmentation issues.
- Educate patients on skincare routines, hygiene, sun protection, and preventive measures to reduce the risk of skin disease.
- Track patient progress over time, updating treatment strategies and counseling patients on managing long-term or recurring conditions.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Master of Medicine in Dermatology from a recognized institution.
- Certificate of Registration by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting no less than six weeks from a recognized institution.
- Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
- Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability, as reflected in work performance and results.
