Role Overview
This position sits at the intersection of clinical medicine and public health, requiring a physician who can manage complex patient cases while also shaping population-level health strategies. Day to day, you will diagnose and treat patients, lead specialized care initiatives, and use epidemiological data to guide disease prevention and health promotion efforts. Your work directly supports the institution's mission to deliver high-quality medical care while strengthening health systems through research, training, and program implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing rehabilitation for a diverse clinical caseload.
- Deliver specialized clinical care in your area of expertise, including performing surgical procedures and providing advanced therapeutic interventions.
- Offer psycho-social support to patients and families, addressing mental health and social factors that affect recovery and well-being.
- Provide clinical training and mentorship to medical staff, residents, and students, while also offering consultative guidance on complex cases.
- Execute forensic and medico-legal examinations and prepare reports in accordance with legal and professional standards.
- Coordinate disease surveillance systems, monitor outbreaks, and implement prevention and control measures at the community or facility level.
- Design and lead health education campaigns to promote healthy behaviors and improve public awareness of key health issues.
- Manage health information systems, analyze medical records and reports, and use data to monitor treatment outcomes and inform policy.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) degree from an institution recognized by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- A Master's degree in Epidemiology to support evidence-based public health interventions and research.
- Current registration and a valid practicing license from the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
- Completion of a Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting at least six weeks from a recognized institution, demonstrating managerial readiness.
- Certified computer application skills from a recognized institution, with the ability to work with health records systems and data analysis tools.
- Proven professional competence and managerial capability, evidenced by strong work performance and measurable results in clinical or public health settings.
