Creative Financial Staffing (CFS) is seeking a Senior Accountant – Finance Operations for a primarily remote opportunity with a stable, mission-driven nonprofit organization. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys ownership, process improvement, and working closely with leadership in a collaborative finance environment.
The successful candidate will manage operational accounting activities, support financial reporting, improve accounting processes, and contribute to finance modernization initiatives. This position provides broad exposure across accounting functions rather than focusing on limited transactional responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage account reconciliations, including bank accounts, general ledger, deferred revenue, investments, payroll/benefits, AP, accruals, and eCommerce activities.
• Support month-end closing processes, financial reporting, payroll processing, and compliance activities.
• Assist with audits, Form 990 preparation, and daily operational accounting activities.
• Improve accounting workflows, procedures, documentation, and internal processes.
• Support finance technology improvements, including Sage Intacct implementation, reporting enhancements, and automation initiatives.
• Collaborate with multiple departments across the organization.
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
• Nonprofit accounting experience required.
• Strong general ledger and reconciliation experience.
• Experience with month-end close processes.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience supporting audits and compliance activities.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
