Senior Accountant

Role Overview

The Senior Accountant will run core accounting activities for a Dubai-based logistics business, from maintaining the general ledger and closing monthly accounts to producing reliable financial reports. The role helps management monitor cash, performance, and compliance while keeping financial records ready for internal review and external audit.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger accounts and complete month-end close activities within reporting deadlines.
• Prepare financial reports, cash flow updates, budgets, and variance analysis.
• Reconcile bank, branch, and intercompany balances, investigate discrepancies, and follow them through to resolution.
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable and prepare collection reports.
• Support compliance with UAE VAT and Corporate Tax requirements by maintaining accurate supporting records.
• Coordinate audit requests and organise clear, complete financial documentation.
• Maintain accounting data in the ERP system and uphold effective financial controls.

Requirements & Qualifications

• M.Com or a higher qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
• At least five years of accounting experience in the UAE, including senior-level responsibilities.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, UAE VAT, and Corporate Tax requirements.
• Practical experience with ERP accounting systems and Microsoft Excel; advanced reporting capability is an advantage.
• Sound reconciliation, budgeting, analytical, and variance-analysis skills.
• Careful, organised approach to financial records and the ability to meet reporting deadlines.
• Experience in cargo, courier, logistics, or transportation is an advantage.
• CA, ACCA, CPA, or CMA qualification is an advantage.
