Role Overview
This position places a recent graduate directly into the operational core of international trade, where you will handle the daily flow of export documentation, track shipment movements across multiple carriers, and prepare logistics data for team decision-making. Your work ensures that goods move smoothly from origin to destination while keeping compliance records accurate and up to date. The role matters because every clean bill of lading, every on-time tracking update, and every data-driven recommendation reduces delays and cuts costs in a fast-paced global supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, check, and file export documents – including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and bills of lading – to meet regulatory and customer requirements.
- Coordinate daily with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, and internal procurement teams to confirm sailing schedules, address port or customs holds, and resolve unexpected shipment delays.
- Clean and structure raw data from export sales, freight invoices, and carrier performance reports, then load it into shared databases to maintain operational transparency.
- Build and update shipment-tracking dashboards using spreadsheet software or visualization tools, translating raw KPI data into clear status reports for supply chain managers.
- Document standard operating procedures for export workflows, flagging repetitive bottlenecks and proposing small process improvements that reduce manual data entry.
- Analyse freight cost trends and delivery performance by comparing planned versus actual transit times, then summarise findings in simple charts for weekly team reviews.
- Participate actively in supply chain stand-ups and logistics reviews, contributing data-backed suggestions to optimise routing, carrier selection, or documentation lead times.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree completed within the last 12 months in International Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Data Analytics, Business Administration, Economics, or a directly related field.
- Solid understanding of core international trade concepts such as Incoterms, customs documentation, and standard shipping terms.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, basic formulas) and comfortable extracting, sorting, and cleaning data from operational systems.
- Familiarity with data visualisation platforms like Tableau or Power BI is a plus; experience with any ERP or TMS module is also welcomed.
- Meticulous attention to detail when reviewing shipping documents and cross-checking numbers, invoices, and shipment dates.
- Strong problem-solving mindset – able to trace a customs delay to a missing signature or spot a cost outlier in a freight dataset without being asked.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, capable of summarising a logistics issue and a recommended fix for both operations colleagues and non-specialist stakeholders.
