Role Overview
You will be the driving force behind the growth of our client's woodworking equipment division, selling specialised machinery to businesses that cut, shape, finish and assemble wood products. Your territory spans furniture factories, bespoke joinery studios, high-volume timber processors and vocational training centres, where you will diagnose production bottlenecks and match them with the right industrial machines.
This is a field-heavy role for someone who thrives on face-to-face conversations and technical problem-solving. You will spend your days visiting workshops, demonstrating equipment, preparing tailored proposals and negotiating orders, while building a pipeline of repeat customers who rely on you for reliable machinery and after-sales support.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively hunt for new business among furniture makers, carpentry workshops, joineries, sawmills and educational institutions that need professional woodworking equipment.
- Assess each prospect's production workflow, material types and output volumes to recommend the most suitable machinery configuration.
- Arrange on-site product demonstrations, factory tours and live machine trials to help customers evaluate performance before committing.
- Prepare accurate quotations, technical proposals and financing options that address the customer's specific processing requirements.
- Manage a structured sales pipeline, tracking every lead from first contact through quotation, negotiation and final order closure.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines and service terms while protecting margins and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with installation and service technicians to ensure smooth machine delivery, commissioning and operator training.
- Represent the company at regional trade fairs and industry events, collecting leads and strengthening brand visibility.
- Maintain up-to-date records of customer interactions, forecasted sales and market intelligence in the CRM system.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, Engineering, Wood Technology or a related discipline.
- At least two years of proven B2B sales experience, ideally involving capital equipment or technical products.
- Familiarity with woodworking machinery—such as panel saws, edge banders, CNC routers, sanders or planers—is a strong plus.
- Demonstrated ability to identify prospects, generate leads and convert them into long-term accounts.
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to owners, production managers and procurement teams.
- Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness to close deals while maintaining profitability.
- Self-motivated and disciplined, comfortable working independently in the field with minimal daily supervision.
- A valid driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites across the assigned region.
What We Offer / Why Join
You will receive a competitive base salary supplemented by a performance-based commission structure that rewards successful deal closure. High performers can significantly increase their total earnings through consistent prospecting and account growth.
Beyond financial rewards, you will gain deep expertise in industrial woodworking technology and work alongside a supportive team of application specialists and service engineers. This is an ideal role for a sales professional looking to build a long-term career in a niche, growing sector.
