Role Overview
You will be the technical backbone for our clients' electronic security environments, ensuring that surveillance, access control, and life-safety systems remain operational and dependable. Your day-to-day work involves visiting customer sites to install new equipment, perform scheduled maintenance, and respond quickly to faults or breakdowns. Because these systems safeguard people and property, your ability to diagnose issues accurately and restore service promptly directly affects client confidence and business continuity.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out full-scope installation, configuration, and commissioning of electronic security equipment, including CCTV networks, access control readers, automatic barriers, bollards, electric perimeter fencing, intercom gates, and fire alarm panels.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance visits on PAVA (public address and voice alarm), BMS (building management), IPBAX, and related integrated systems to minimise unexpected downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Respond to client support calls within agreed timeframes, remotely or on-site, to diagnose faults, run diagnostic tests, replace defective components, and restore systems to full working order.
- Complete detailed service reports and job cards for every assignment, recording work performed, parts used, and recommending system upgrades or enhancements to both supervisors and clients.
- Provide practical, hands-on training to client staff so they can confidently operate their security systems and understand basic user-level troubleshooting.
- Handle technical complaints with professionalism, identifying recurring issues, and escalating complex problems to senior management when a resolution exceeds your remit.
- Maintain a tidy, safe, and secure working environment at all client premises, following site protocols and respecting the confidentiality of sensitive areas.
- Collaborate with project teams during system handovers, ensuring that all documentation, wiring diagrams, and firmware details are accurate and accessible.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in electronic engineering, electrical engineering, IT, or a closely related technical field, combined with proven hands-on experience as a service technician.
- A minimum of three years of practical experience working within the electronics or low-voltage security industry, with a strong grasp of installation techniques, cable routing, and termination standards.
- Solid working knowledge of security-driven technology platforms, including IP and analogue CCTV, biometric and card-based access control, perimeter detection, and intercom systems.
- Familiarity with general maintenance practices, test instruments, multimeters, network testers, and hand/power tools, as well as the ability to read and interpret wiring schematics.
- Advanced proficiency in fire alarm and BMS system installation, programming, and troubleshooting is a significant advantage, particularly with industry-recognised controller brands.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to produce clear technical reports, brief clients on system usage, and coordinate effectively with your supervisor while working independently.
- A self-disciplined, organised approach to time management, with the flexibility to travel to multiple sites and handle occasional after-hours callouts when required.
