RPA Tester

Role Overview

The RPA Tester is responsible for validating UiPath automations end to end, from reviewing process documentation through executing and monitoring live bots. Day to day, the role combines hands-on test case development in UiPath Test Manager with exploratory QA work, ensuring every bot behaves reliably, catches exceptions gracefully, and meets the business intent behind the automation. By catching defects early and verifying fixes, this role directly protects the stability and trustworthiness of the organisation’s RPA portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Review UiPath process design documents and requirement specifications to identify missing test scenarios, edge cases, and potential failure points.
• Design and maintain test cases for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end coverage of automated workflows.
• Use UiPath Test Manager to schedule, execute, and track automated test runs, including linking results to relevant process versions.
• Monitor bot executions in test and production environments, inspecting logs, output data, and exception handling to spot anomalies.
• Log defects with clear reproduction steps, work with automation developers to isolate root causes, and verify fixes through retesting.
• Carry out QA activities such as test planning, regression suites, quality risk assessment, and release readiness validation.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, process owners, and RPA developers to clarify expected behaviour and align test coverage with real-world usage.
• Raise risks and quality concerns early in the delivery cycle, supporting a proactive approach to automation reliability.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Solid understanding of QA fundamentals, software testing lifecycle, and best practices for test design and execution.
• Proven hands-on experience testing RPA solutions, with demonstrable ability to test UiPath bots across functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end scenarios.
• Practical knowledge of RPA concepts, including workflows, queues, assets, orchestrator folders, and exception handling strategies.
• Experience with UiPath Test Manager is an added advantage; familiarity with equivalent test orchestration and automation tools is also relevant.
• Strong capability to review requirements, spot ambiguities, and translate them into comprehensive, traceable test scenarios.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and a mindset focused on early risk detection.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, enabling effective interaction with both technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
• Prior experience working in an Agile or Scrum environment is preferred.
