Role Overview
As a DevOps Engineer, you will build and operate the delivery pipelines and cloud infrastructure that help engineering teams move software from development into production reliably. You’ll work closely with development, QA and product colleagues to automate routine work, strengthen service resilience and make releases safer and more efficient.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain CI/CD workflows with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI or GitHub Actions, covering automated builds, tests and deployments.
- Coordinate releases to staging and production, including release timing, version control and rollback planning.
- Provision and manage AWS resources using infrastructure-as-code and configuration tools such as Terraform, Ansible or CloudFormation.
- Package applications with Docker and support their deployment and operation on Kubernetes.
- Work with engineering and product teams to include testing and deployment controls throughout the Agile development cycle.
- Track service health and performance, configure monitoring, logs and alerts, and investigate production problems through to their underlying causes.
- Automate operational and configuration tasks, and improve reliability, scalability and cloud resource efficiency.
- Apply security controls across build and deployment workflows, including code and container scanning and secure handling of credentials.
- Support backups, disaster recovery and continuity practices, and document infrastructure, release processes and troubleshooting procedures.
- Review code and infrastructure changes with colleagues and contribute to ongoing improvements in software delivery.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or a related discipline.
- Two to three years of experience in DevOps, site reliability engineering, infrastructure engineering or systems engineering.
- Practical experience developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions or comparable tools.
- Hands-on knowledge of AWS and its core infrastructure services; experience with Azure or Google Cloud Platform is an advantage.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible or CloudFormation.
- Working knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes, Linux administration, Git and collaborative branching practices.
- Ability to write automation scripts in Python and Bash or another shell language.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog or CloudWatch.
- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL or MongoDB, in an operational context.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and security practices, with exposure to application security testing, image scanning and secrets-management tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, including the ability to investigate incidents across infrastructure and application layers.
- Clear communicator who can collaborate across teams, take ownership of work and operate independently as well as with colleagues.
- Relevant project work or cloud and Kubernetes certifications would be an advantage. The role may involve participating in an on-call rotation to support production incidents outside business hours.
