Role Overview
This position is built around dependable courier work in Nairobi, where you will transport documents and authorised parcels between offices, client sites, customs offices, and other assigned destinations on a company-provided motorbike. Every ride matters because you are the link that keeps sensitive paperwork moving on schedule, and your careful handling directly affects client trust and operational continuity. Your day-to-day focus is on punctual pickups and drop-offs, route efficiency, clear communication of any delays, and keeping both the documents and the motorcycle in secure, roadworthy condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect and deliver documents, parcels, and other authorised items to and from client offices, customs offices, and designated addresses within Nairobi.
- Obtain proper signatures and proof-of-delivery records for every completed drop-off, ensuring accurate documentation of each transaction.
- Protect the confidentiality and physical integrity of all transported materials, using secure carrying methods and never exposing contents to unauthorised persons.
- Plan daily delivery routes in advance, accounting for traffic patterns, road closures, and alternative routes to meet tight deadlines.
- Immediately report any delays, incidents, or route changes to the relevant supervisor so that clients can be updated without unnecessary downtime.
- Maintain a rider movement log that records pickups, deliveries, arrival times, and any noteworthy events throughout the working day.
- Track fuel consumption and service intervals for the company motorbike, flagging maintenance needs before they become breakdowns.
- Perform daily checks on the motorcycle’s brakes, tyres, lights, and fluids to ensure it remains safe and operational at all times.
Requirements & Qualifications
- O-Level certificate or equivalent secondary school qualification.
- Valid and current motorcycle riding licence with the legal authority to operate a motorbike on Kenyan roads.
- 2–3 years of proven experience as a motorcycle courier, rider, or in a similar document-delivery role.
- Strong working knowledge of Nairobi’s roads, neighbourhoods, traffic congestion patterns, and practical alternative routes.
- Demonstrated ability to ride defensively and responsibly, prioritising personal safety, pedestrian safety, and cargo security.
- Proven record of punctuality, reliability, and meeting strict delivery deadlines without compromising quality.
- Careful attention to detail when matching documents to recipients, checking addresses, and completing delivery logs.
- Clear communication skills in English and/or Kiswahili for professional interactions with clients, office staff, and security personnel.
- A courteous, service-oriented attitude when representing the company at client premises and external offices.
