Job Description

Role Overview

This position sits at the heart of the restaurant group’s finance function, taking ownership of everything from supplier payments and stock integrity to tax filings and month-end reporting. Day to day, you will work across all restaurant locations to ensure every shilling is accounted for, every stock variance is investigated, and every statutory deadline is met. Your work directly supports management decisions by providing accurate financial data and tightening the controls that protect margins across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run the full accounts payable cycle: vet and maintain an approved supplier list, reconcile supplier statements, review pricing, and process payments on schedule without disrupting operations.
  • Take charge of stock control across all sites, coordinating regular stocktakes, reviewing daily counts, digging into variances, and partnering with operations teams to tighten inventory procedures and reduce waste.
  • Reconcile all sales collections—cash, card, and delivery aggregator payouts—against POS reports, banking slips, and third-party statements, resolving discrepancies quickly and flagging recurring issues.
  • Keep the accounting system current with purchases, sales, expenses, bank transactions, and other entries, then produce monthly management accounts, financial statements, and variance analysis for leadership.
  • Handle all tax and statutory compliance, including monthly VAT returns, VAT reconciliations against KRA iTax records, withholding tax filings, and prompt correction of any mismatches.
  • Track the renewal of restaurant licences, permits, and regulatory requirements, while maintaining clean, audit-ready financial documentation at all times.
  • Supervise the stock controller, coordinate with restaurant and operations managers to strengthen financial controls, and provide commercial insight that supports budgeting, pricing, and cost-management decisions.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Fully qualified CPA (K), ACCA, or CIMA, with at least three years of post-qualification experience in accounting.
  • Background in hospitality, restaurants, retail, or multi-site operations is strongly preferred, with proven ability to handle high-volume, fast-moving financial activity.
  • Hands-on, daily working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and the ability to produce reliable financial reports from it.
  • Solid grasp of Kenyan VAT, withholding tax, KRA iTax processes, and general statutory compliance obligations.
  • Demonstrated experience in stock control, supplier management, cash and bank reconciliations, and implementing financial controls.
  • Sharp analytical thinking, strong problem-solving instincts, and excellent organisational discipline, with a practical, hands-on style that thrives in an operational environment.
