Finance Manager – THRIVE

Role Overview

This position places you at the financial core of a global program spanning multiple countries, where you will safeguard how every dollar is planned, spent, and reported. You will work side-by-side with program leads, country finance teams, and local partner organizations to build budgets, track performance, and keep all financial practices aligned with both internal policies and external donor rules. Your judgment will directly shape project decisions and ensure resources are used transparently and effectively from launch to final audit.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the full financial lifecycle of the program: building annual budgets, refreshing forecasts, monitoring actual spend, and flagging variances before they become problems.
• Advise program leadership on financial risks, cost allocation choices, and funding scenarios so that funding decisions are grounded in solid numbers.
• Coordinate every layer of auditing across the program, from donor reviews to internal and external audits, and drive timely resolution of any findings.
• Lead the financial side of partner relationships, including due diligence, sub-grant setup, disbursement schedules, grant monitoring, and clean grant closure.
• Design and update financial tools, templates, and reporting models that make it simple for every country team and implementing partner to submit accurate, consistent data.
• Supervise and coach a team of finance officers, setting performance goals, encouraging knowledge exchange, and providing hands-on technical support.
• Deliver targeted capacity-building sessions to partners on budget execution, financial record-keeping, donor reporting standards, and internal control practices.
• Validate transactions and supporting documentation before approval to confirm completeness and compliance with organizational procedures.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business economics, or an equivalent closely related discipline.
• At least five years of professional finance experience, specifically covering donor-funded programs within an international NGO or development setting.
• One to three years of line management experience leading multicultural, geographically distributed finance staff.
• Hands-on experience managing multi-country grantmaking, including grant administration, payment scheduling, monitoring, and closeout phases.
• Proven track record managing the entire budget cycle for complex funded projects, from forecasting and financial reporting to donor compliance.
• Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, project finance, risk management, and tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Advanced proficiency with ERP systems, financial software, and management information systems.
• Demonstrated success in strengthening the finance skills of partner organizations and junior team members.
• Full professional fluency in English; Arabic or French is a significant advantage.
• Excellent analytical judgment, sharp attention to detail, and the integrity to handle sensitive financial data with discretion.
